Westley and Yvonne Thomas, of Staten Island, New York, wanted to come to the Flight 93 National Memorial for September 11 ceremonies for some time. This contribution is in addition to the more than $40 million the Foundation raised through its Flight 93 National Memorial Capital Campaign to fund reforestation of the park's landscape and design and construct the park's Memorial Plaza, Wall of Names, 40 Memorial Groves, and Field of Honor. The lights representing the Twin Towers of the original World Trade Center will then fade into dawn tomorrow.

Nancy Muir, assistant principal, said she thought attending the ceremony with 42 students, ages 13 and 14, would be a good way for them to learn about the impact.

Even as the U.S. continues to grapple with the trail of destruction being left behind by two ravaging hurricanes in less than three weeks, Americans marked the 16th anniversary of the deadly September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on United States soil. Instead, she made a decision to go on a run. And yet, among that ... you would see on the rubble, where the flames and smoke were, firefighters working to try to put out the fires.

Westley Thomas, who did two tours in Vietnam, worked on the World Trade Center construction. He knew Flight 93 flight attendant CeeCee Ross Lyles.

"As the chimes ring, I hope we all remember. the sound they make is a sound of a great nation - a nation of great character and great people", said U.S. Department of Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke.

Good spent the entire day watching updates on television.

A Somerset County native, Stevens lived in Virginia and moved back to the area after retirement.

The second time, it was followed by a recording of all 40 wind chimes playing the type of peaceful song that White said will one day be commonplace here.
