Just one day after white supremacist protests in Charlottesville, Virginia, turned into a lethal attack on anti-racist demonstrators, former White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci on Sunday blamed White House senior strategist Steve Bannon for President Donald Trump's anemic response to the incident.

Mark Herring, attorney general of Charlottesville, tweeted: "The violence, chaos, and apparent loss of life in Charlottesville is not the fault of "many sides". It's time to show America that we will never stop working to end bigotry, especially when it comes out of the White House.

As Donald Trump continues to face strong criticism for failing to specifically condemn white supremacy, his daughter has finally said what her father won't - but it seems like it's too little, too late.

On Friday night they marched through the University of Virginia campus holding torches in a scene reminiscent of Ku Klux Klan gatherings that haunted America's civil rights movement. "He called for national unity and bringing all Americans together", the spokesperson said from Trump's private golf club in Bedminster, N.J.

The president did not have any public events on Sunday. "U.S is greatest when we join together & oppose those seeking to divide us".

"To the white supremacists and neo-Nazis who came to our lovely state yesterday, there is no place for you here in Charlottesville and there is no place for you in the United States of America", McAuliffe said to applause, addressing the predominately African-American congregation at the Mount Zion First African Baptist Church.

The White House was silent for hours except for a tweet from first lady Melania Trump: "Our country encourages freedom of speech, but let's communicate w/o hate in our hearts".

Buzzfeed is now reporting that a auto drove into a group of anti-racist protesters, injuring at least 19 people.

"Look, I think anyone who watched the presidential campaign saw an invitation to these forces that call themselves "alt-right" to really come into a mainstream presidential campaign". But some, including a growing group of Republican and Democratic senators, have implored the president to specifically denounce white supremacists.

The president's homeland security adviser, Tom Bossert, defended the president's initial statement by suggesting that some of the counter-protesters were violent, too. Instead Trump condemned the "egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides, on many sides". "There are not "many sides" here, just right and wrong". A white supremacist website praised the comments. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa; Sen.

Florida Sen. Marco Rubio wrote "Nothing patriotic about #Nazis, the #KKK or #WhiteSupremacists It's the direct opposite of what #America seeks to be".

- "We should call evil by its name". Tim Scott, R-S.C.; and House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis.

Trump has tweeted that "we ALL must be united & condemn all that hate stands for". "The FBI will collect all available facts and evidence".

Prominent Democrats also used Twitter to comment on the racially charged events and their deadly outcomes.
