  • LeBron James slams Trump in the wake of Charlottesville

On Saturday, a Nazi rally broke out in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James weighed in on Saturday about the ongoing violence taking place in Charlottesville, Va., taking a shot at President Donald Trump and expressing his sadness in the process. "Is this the direction our country is heading?"

"It's sad what's going on in Charlottesville", James said while mocking Trump's "Make America Great Again" campaign slogan. During the chaos, one person was killed and 35 others injured when a vehicle rammed into a crowd of counter-protesters.

Andrew Luck 'Could' Start Colts' Season Opener vs. Rams, Says Jim Irsay
Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay, speaking with the press following the team's first preseason game, admitted as much. Center Ryan Kelly is out for a couple more weeks at least, and without him that line was terrible on Sunday.

The protests were between white nationalists, who were protesting the removal of a statue of Civil War Confederate general Robert E. Lee, and counter-protesters. A group of counterprotesters soon demonstrated nearby, leading to a violent clash between the two groups that ultimately ended with a silver Dodge Challenger plowing through several hundred counterprotesters and a state of emergency being declared by the governor.

LeBron James is known around the world as arguably the greatest basketball player of his generation, if not of all time.
