  • The return bout between Jeff Horn and Manny Pacquiao in Brisbane could be in jeopardy

Horn's surprise welterweight victory over Pacquiao allowed the Filipino to trigger a rematch clause.

Brisbane Lord Mayor Graham Quirk says he wants confirmation from promoters that Pacquiao has signed for the fight before he commits to marketing the event. A World Boxing Organisation scoring review later endorsed Horn as the rightful victor.

"The good news is Manny Pacquiao will definitely be here to fight Jeff Horn this year".

The Brisbane City Council will not make a financial commitment to the promoters for the rematch of WBO welterweight title bout between world champion Jeff Horn and challenger Manny Pacquiao until it's guaranteed that the future Hall of Famer will be travelling from the Philippines for a rematch with the former Brisbane schoolteacher in November.
