The vigil wass being put on by Transylvania Indivisible, a community political organization that says it is working to "impede the successful implementation of the Trump agenda".

In the wake of the death of a protester and 19 injuries at the hands of a white supremacist terrorist, the deaths of two state troopers in a helicopter crash, and open displays of racism, anti-Semitsim, homophobia in Charlottesville on Saturday, several vigils and protests are planned this evening in D.C. A few dozen showed up to show their support. They also said it's important to come together to fight for their cause.

"We will not stand for this".

"We will rally for a kind of protective space to make sure every American is treated with the respect and dignity that they're entitled to", Moiseyev said.

At 7 p.m., a candlelight vigil will take place in Lafayette Park, across the street from the White House.

Organizers said they picked that spot because they feel it's important to keep Olango's memory alive.

A walk of peace has been organized as well as a second candle light vigil tomorrow.
