  • CEOs resign from Trump Manufacturing Council

General Electric said the company has "no tolerance for hate, bigotry or racism".

Four CEOs quit Donald Trump's American Manufacturing Council over his response to a deadly rally of white supremacists in Charlottesville - and that was before the president renewed the controversy on Tuesday by furiously reverting to his original position that the counter-protesters share the blame for the violence.

Trump shot back on Twitter on Tuesday morning, saying, "For every CEO that drops out of the Manufacturing Council, I have many to take their place".

"Under Armour engages in innovation and sports, not politics", he said in a statement.

August 16: Dow Chemical's Liveris, who led the manufacturing group, issued this statement:"Every member of the Manufacturing Jobs Initiative condemns racism and bigotry, and there can not be moral ambiguity around the driving forces of the events in Charlottesville".

The president of a manufacturing association has become the fourth executive to walk away from President Trump after he took two days to denounce white supremacy.

Thulin and Morrison were the seventh and eighth to step down from the council in the wake of the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Va., and Trump's response to it. Thulin's prepared statement, released on Twitter, did not cite events surrounding Charlottesville as the reason for resignation; Morrison's statement did. "Whereas the president could have claimed to learn from the council, now it seems that he only listens when they agree with his opinion".

Trump eventually made a statement condemning bigotry Monday afternoon at a press conference, but already, other executives came to Frazier's support.

Eclipse Forecast Could be Better

August 14: Under Armour Inc.'s Kevin Plank quit the manufacturing group about 12 hours after Frazier.

In a move that may catch many off-guard Trump recently announced by tweet that he would be abolishing the Manufacturing Council & Strategy & Policy Forum.

He added: "You can be sure we will charge and advance the investigation towards the most serious charges that can be brought, because this is an unequivocally unacceptable and evil attack that cannot be accepted in America".

Mr Trumka and the chief executives of Under Armour, Merck, Intel, Johnson & Johnson and 3M quit following Mr Trump's Charlottesville remarks where he blamed "many sides" for the violence. And "they know they will get called out". "I'm thankful we have business leaders such as Ken to remind America of its better angels", said Hewlett Packard Enterprises CEO Meg Whitman, who ran for governor of California as a Republican in 2010. Trump attacked him on Twitter, and as other CEOs departed, the president labeled them "grandstanders". "#Intel asks all our countries leadership to do the same", CEO Brian Krzanich said in a tweet.

His resignation came even after Trump made a statement on Monday explicitly calling out hate groups, including the KKK, neo-Nazis, and white supremacists, for their role in the unrest.

But publicly issued applause for Frazier from his colleagues was scant.

He tells NBC News that Trump " will be speaking to the people today" although he isn't sure what Trump will say.
