"We are very sorry and appalled that this third party seller listed their item with this description on our online marketplace", the retailer tweeted in response.
The retail giant quickly removed the item and issued a statement of apology.
As the New York Post noted, Walmart passed the blame to a third party seller that had actually written the description which ended up on its website.
The retailer was slammed early Monday after the color of a netting weave cap - used as a protective layer between a person's hair and sewn-in hair extensions - on its site was described as the color "N- Brown".
