The Trump administration on Monday lifted restrictions on airline passengers coming to the US from Saudi Arabia that prohibited them from carrying electronic devices larger than a cellphone on to the aircraft.

Saudi Arabia's flagship carrier was the last airline to face in-cabin electronics restrictions.

According to the TSA, the only airport still affected by the ban is King Khalid International Airport.

On Thursday, the U.S. department of homeland security issued a revised directive to airlines around the world in response to requests that it clarify aviation security measures scheduled to begin taking effect later this week.

An airline official briefed on the matter said the directive gave airlines more flexibility and additional time to obtain explosive trace detection equipment.
