United States set to lift electronics ban on flights from Istanbul

Passengers flying direct from Turkey to the United States should soon be able to take their laptops on board again.

Earlier on Monday, the United States lifted a ban on laptops in cabins on flights from Abu Dhabi to the United States, saying Etihad Airways had put in place required tighter security measures.

"With this confirmation inspection, the ban will be lifted from Ataturk Airport and Turkish Airlines.the fact that it didn't last too long is an advantage for us", Arslan said. Turkish Airlines is next in line.

Saudia Arabian Airlines expects its laptop ban to be lifted no later than July 19, according to their state news agency.

The U.S.in March banned passengers from carrying large electronic devices, such as laptops, on commercial flights to the U.S. from 10 worldwide airports in eight Muslim-majority countries - Egypt, Morocco, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar and Turkey. It will continue to affect seven airlines including Emirates, the largest worldwide carrier in the world.
