A combination of Sprint and Charter would put together the fourth-largest US wireless carrier with the No. 2 USA cable company.
Sprint and Charter Communications are discussing a potential merger in a complicated transaction that would leave SoftBank in control of the combined entity, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday.
Wireless has been an elusive target for the cable industry for decades. Charter inherited the Verizon MVNO deal through its purchase of Time Warner Cable in 2015.
