US Senator John McCain returns to Washington tomorrow for the first time since being diagnosed with brain cancer, his office announced, in order to take key votes on repealing Obamacare and passing sanctions on Russian Federation.

Despite mass confusion about what exactly Republicans are trying to enact, and serious doubts as to whether they have the 50 votes needed to begin debate, Mitch McConnell announced the Senate will vote tomorrow on a motion to proceed to consideration of the American Health Care Act.

Republicans are expected to huddle for the GOP lunch Tuesday afternoon and get more information on next steps. Whether it is enough to get McConnell all the votes he needs remains unclear.

Some Democrats have said the GOP repeal effort would lead to death for patients who lose coverage.

Kushner Meets With House Committee on 'Range of Issues'
Leaders of the House Intelligence Committee's probe offered few details on the interview but left the door open for the possibility of Kushner returning for more questioning.

McConnell's measure would uproot much of Obama's law, eliminating its tax penalties on people not buying policies, cutting the Medicaid health care program for the poor and providing less generous health care subsidies for consumers. He said they must "fulfill that solemn promise".

Separately, former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort met with bipartisan staff of the Senate intelligence committee and "answered their questions fully", his spokesman, Jason Maloni, said.

Moderate Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, remained opposed to beginning debate on any option McConnell has revealed so far, and other Republicans remained uncommitted. Other female senators who have expressed reservations are Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska. "But the likelihood that John McCain is going to come back to the Senate and be at full force for the people of our state and the people of the United States is low".

Facing criticism from the president, the Senate postponed its summer break as it works to break through the stalemate. Nor did it guarantee success on Tuesday's vote for Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, who is managing a balky GOP caucus with nearly no room for error in the closely divided Senate. John McCain, is an aggressive type that is hard to treat, experts say. They said they had been unable to reach agreement with Manafort on the terms of a private and voluntary interview with staff.
