White House: Trump won't block Comey's testimony

06 Juin, 2017, 07:04 | Author: Marc Bacque

On Sunday, lawmakers from both parties urged Trump not to stand in the way of Comey's testimony.

Last week, Kellyanne Conway indicated that President Trump was considering stopping the testimony by invoking executive privileged, though doing so would have made Trump look incredibly suspicious.

One such leak alleged Trump had told Russian officials in the Oval Office that firing Comey "took the pressure off".

Trump fired Flynn in February after he had held the key White House post for just 24 days, when routine USA eavesdropping showed Flynn had lied to Vice President Mike Pence about his contacts with Moscow's ambassador to Washington in the weeks before Trump assumed power in late January. Putin gave a seemingly far-fetched description of the circumstances behind a photo that emerged in March of him sitting next to Flynn at a banquet. "I'm not saying we should impeach him now, I'm calling for an impeachment investigation". You know, it's going to be interesting. He used to be in the security services.' That's it. But, you know, I have confidence in him. "That's the extent of my acquaintance with Mr. Flynn". But before sunrise Monday, Trump had picked a fight with the mayor of London, based on a casual misinterpretation of something the mayor said after a terrorist attack. Mark Warner of Virginia, the top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee. "It's taking up a great deal of time".

"The tone, the exact words that were spoken and the context are so important and that's what we lack right now and we can only get that by talking to those directly involved", she said. But that is also thought to be one of the more likely outcomes of at least portions of Comey's testimony."There's nothing Comey could say that would be more damaging than trying to silence him", one White House adviser told ABC News.

3 terrorists responsible for London attack identified: PM Theresa May
Asked if Trump was criticizing the mayor of London because he is Muslim, Sanders said that was "utterly ridiculous". The revised order narrowed the scope of the original, but both have been blocked by lower courts.

"That phrase raises a lot of questions in my mind", Republican Sen.

"I haven't frankly understood much of what Comey has done since about a year ago", Blunt said. Then we talked about some other stuff.

In the NBC interview, Putin was asked about reports of Trump adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner's attempt to set up a secret communications channel with Russian Federation.

The administration's policy push will continue on Tuesday, when Trump will huddle with congressional leaders at the White House to discuss his legislative agenda and how to pass an ObamaCare replacement bill, which is stuck with dimming prospects in the GOP-controlled Senate.

A top secret National Security Agency document meanwhile shows that hackers from Russian military intelligence repeatedly tried to break into USA voting systems before last year's presidential election, The Intercept reported Monday. Trump fired Flynn in February amid reports that Flynn had lied to Vice President Mike Pence about his contacts with Russia's ambassador to the United States. That is the concept behind a group we formed called Montanans for National Security, and you are invited to join our efforts. However, the allegations were rejected by the White House.
