US Student Hospitalized After Return From NKorea

Early stories suggested there might be a connection between Rodman's arrival in Pyongyang Tuesday and North Korea's release of the comatose Otto Warmbier. In March 2016, a North Korean kangaroo court, after a one hour show trial, concluded, according to the state-run North Korean Central News Agency, that Warmbier had committed a crime "pursuant to the USA government's hostile policy toward [the North], in a bid to impair the unity of its people after entering it as a tourist". It wasn't immediately clear whether his release was connected to Rodman's visit.

A North Korean foreign ministry official said Warmbier was released and left the country Tuesday morning. His parents say he's on a Medivac flight on his way home. Nauert said the last consular visit to Warmbier, by Swedish diplomats, was March 2.

We also learn that it is most unlikely that Dennis Rodman was a part of the discussions about Mr. Warmbier or the arrangements for his return.

Warmbier's plane landed at Cincinnati Municipal Lunken Airport at around 10.15 p.m. local time, according to a Reuters witness. His family were told that he contracted botulism after the trial, and was given a sleeping pill from which he never awoke.

"We pray for him and pray for his family", Shannon said, without providing other information.

Otto Frederick Warmbier (C), a University of Virginia student who was detained in North Korea since January 2016, is taken to North Korea's top court in Pyongyang, North Korea, in this photo released by Kyodo March 16, 2016. Otto grew up here and we know him as an intelligent, personable, and wonderful young man.

How harsh is prison in North Korea?

An American college student has arrived in OH after being released by North Korea, where he was serving a 15-year prison term with hard labor for alleged anti-state acts.

That moment to use this chip might have arrived, in Pyongyang's estimation, with the escalation of tensions between the USA and North Korea over the latter's pursuit of nuclear weapons.

Nearly immediately on taking office in January, Trump and his team - having been briefed by outgoing leader Barack Obama - declared the North's attempts to build, test and arm a nuclear-capable ballistic missile to be Washington's biggest threat.

Washington has stepped up pressure on China and other foreign powers to enforce existing United Nations sanctions, and has deployed increased military assets of its own in the region.

Now, parallel to this track, basketball showman Rodman has arrived in Pyongyang, wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with the logo of a cryptocurrency set up for marijuana marketers.

Before arriving this time, Rodman told reporters that Trump would be happy with the trip because he was "trying to accomplish something that we both need", prompting speculation that he may be operating as an unofficial envoy. "Maybe Dennis is a lot better than what we have", Trump was quoted as saying.

"I can't even imagine", she said.

Mr. Rodman is a Hall of Fame professional basketball player who formed a personal relationship with the diminutive North Korean dictator Kim several years ago, traveling to North Korea to give basketball demonstrations. "I'm not aware of any message that was sent".

North Korean authorities said they had security footage of him trying to steal a banner containing a political slogan that was hanging from the walls of his Pyongyang hotel.

Warmbier was detained at Pyongyang airport while on his way home to the U.S. in January 2016. "No one", Fred Warmbier said. A 2009 visit by former President Bill Clinton, a Democrat, secured the freedom of American journalists Euna Lee and Laura Ling. "I will discuss my mission upon my return to the United States of America", he tweeted on Tuesday.
