British Prime Minister Theresa May's top two aides quit on Saturday (June 10) after her Conservative Party failed to win a majority in a national election.
Timothy, who was special adviser to Theresa May when she was Secretary of State at the Home Office and also worked on her election campaign, was appointed Joint Chief of Staff previous year in July.
It said the campaign failed to get "Theresa's positive plan for the future across" or "notice the surge in Labour support, because modern campaigning techniques require ever-narrower targeting of specific voters, and we were not talking to the people who chose to vote for Labour".
The pair formed part of May's small inner circle and were blamed by many Conservatives for the party's lackluster campaign and unpopular election platform. Hill, on the other hand, said she had all the faith in May.
Hill told ConservativeHome that she has "no doubt at all that Theresa May will continue to serve and work hard as Prime Minister - and do it brilliantly".
"I felt what the prime minister needs when you're going through a tough time like negotiating Brexit is diplomats, not street fighters", Perrior, who quit before the election, toldBBC radio. Fiona Hill has also resigned, a Conservative spokesman confirmed.
He wrote: "Responsibility for the toxic dynamic in Downing Street was not Nick and Fi's alone - it goes without saying that the Prime Minister herself should have stopped the rot and is now the one most damaged by her failure to act, but if (as seems likely) accusations of bullying are widely circulated, then senior people in the civil service should also ask themselves searching questions".
