L'Espagnol Rafael Nadal a remporté dimanche son dixième Roland-Garros en balayant le Suisse Stan Wawrinka en finale en trois sets 6-2, 6-3, 6-1 en un peu plus de deux heures. Mais il est à l'équilibre (3 à 3) si l'on ne prend en compte que la dernière période, depuis 2014, celle du "Stanimal" vainqueur sur le tard de trois tournois majeurs. Leur dernière rencontre date de Monte-Carlo en 2016, où le Majorquin s'était nettement imposé.

Pour la première fois, Nadal a accepté de partager son intimité durant la quinzaine du deuxième tournoi du Grand Chelem de l'année.

Nadal est arrivé à Paris avec un bagage très fourni: 42 matchs disputés (36 victoires), trois titres (Monte-Carlo, Barcelone, Madrid) et trois finales (Open d'Australie, Acapulco, Miami). Il n'a perdu que 35 jeux au total en sept rencontres. Il emportait la manche 6-3 juste après que son adversaire ait cassé sa raquette. Du côté de Wawrinka, 28 matchs seulement (20 victoires) et un titre (Genève).
