One person was killed and 10 injured when a van ploughed through a crowd of people as they were leaving a mosque in London.

"There were around five people that were injured, one old man was severely injured", Sougou said.

Britain's Muslim Council has condemned the incident, saying those hit were leaving prayer at a mosque when they were attacked. "Our prayers are with the victims", the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB), an umbrella body, said on Twitter.

Earlier this month, a van veered into pedestrians on London Bridge, with attackers then stabbing and slashing eight people to death and wounding many others on the bridge and in the nearby Borough Market area.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing police give emergency medical treatment to at least one of the injured.

British Prime Minister Theresa May said her thoughts were with the victims of "this is a awful incident".

The police counter terrorism command has launched an investigation into the incident.

Metropolitan Police said officers were called to the scene on Seven Sisters Road at 12:20 a.m. today.
