"We are so pleased to welcome Amazon to Apple TV", said Apple CEO Tim Cook, after a brief mention of the company's TV app, which now supports channels with video content from 50 partners.

The rumors were true: Amazon's video app is finally coming to Apple's TV streaming box.

Amazon is already available on rival devices such as Roku and, of course, Amazon's Fire TV.

Interestingly, that was the only announcement Cook made about Apple TV, so while there wasn't a lot to cover when it comes to tvOS, the head people at Apple clearly thought this was big enough news to stand on its own.

We're only a few hours away from Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference of this year and as time is passing the curiosity is increasing. Ever since, there have been a slew of voice assistants, including Amazon's Alexa, Microsoft's Cortana and more recently, Samsung's Bixby.

In iOS 11, iPads will have new features that are taken directly from the Mac.

What to expect: The tech giant is expected to unveil updates to the high-end MacBook Pro laptop line; iPad Pro, the top-tier iPad; iOS 11, the new operating system for the iPhone and iPad; and macOS 10.13, the desktop operating system. This new iPad is also likely to pack a faster processor and a higher resolution display to match its size, which is kind of obvious to expect from Apple.

The Photos app is adding new filters, and Apple says it has improved the face detection feature.

New iMacs are getting brighter displays and graphics capabilities. Motion tracking, ambient lighting and scale estimation will let developers create augmented reality in their own apps.

Debuting a "smart" speaker competitor to Inc's Echo and the Google Home at the conference would be a logical step, since it would give developers the tools to build apps for the device before its release later in the year.

It will be the first time Apple has presented new hardware at the conference since 2013. It works with Apple Music and your existing iTunes library to play tunes or podcasts.

Amazon Echo and Google Home - the two shiny toys on which their parent companies are betting big. In fact, there's the possibility of further HomeKit integration, so that a smart home can be controlled via Siri and iOS 11.
