Former Greek Prime Minister Lucas Papademos Injured in Car Explosion

Former Greek Prime Minister Lucas Papademos and 2 others have been injured after an explosion hit their vehicle in central Athens, local authorities say.
Reports showed that Papademos had served as a Prime Minister of Greece from 2011 to 2012; his two guards are also wounded in the accident.
A Greek anarchist group, called the Conspiracy of Fire Cells, claimed responsibility for the latter assassination attempt. However, police did not immediately confirm that it was a parcel bomb.Papademos was taken to the hospital and also his driver was also wounded.
Addressing reporters after visiting Papademos in hospital on Friday morning, Antonis Samaras, who succeeded him as prime minister, said: "The letter arrived at his home after undergoing checks which did not detect the explosive material".
"Whatever motivates these people, this kind of attack - politically motivated terrorism - is completely unacceptable", Schaefer said.
Greek media reported Mr Papademos suffered injuries to his hands and legs after opening a parcel that turned out to be a letter bomb while being driven in his auto. Greek Police are telling media outlets that they believe the bomb was in a letter that was inside Papademos' auto.
