Escobar (6-2) started strong, retiring the first nine batters he faced, and didn't give up a hit until the bottom of the fifth.

West Virginia opens a three-game series in Kannapolis Friday night at 7:05. Geoff Hartleib pitched the final two innings allowing just one hit to earn his fifth save of the season.
