Cousin says woman shot by police wasn't violent

The Seattle Times reported dozens of people attended a vigil Sunday night for Lyles demanding answers for how officers ended up killing the woman who had called police for help. "There was some hazard information so that prompted a second officer to respond", Jamieson said. She added that Lyles had a history of mental health problems and was released from King County jail less than a week ago.

Lisa Ganser of Olympia, Washington, said she plans to attend the event because she wants to show "love for Charleena - a black loved one murdered by police".

According to the dash cam audio, they seemed to be having a normal conversation with her, as she tells them about what's been stolen - she confirms a missing Xbox. The officers will be placed on paid administrative leave during the investigation, the police department said in its statement. Monika Williams, Lyles' sister, said police shot Lyles in front of her children.

Family members say the fact that Ms Lyles' is black played a role in her death. They could have taken her down. "I could have taken her down".

On Sunday, near the beginning of the roughly four-minute police audio recording and before they reach the apartment, the officers discussed a "safety caution" about the address stemming from the previous law enforcement interaction with the woman.

On the Seattle government website, they said they released the audio because "transparency throughout the investigation of deadly force incidents is essential to maintaining public trust" and that doing so is "consistent with policy".

The statement provided by the Seattle police department said both officers were "equipped with less lethal force options", and that all its officers are trained in crisis intervention. A study from the Treatment Advocacy Center found that people with mental health struggles are 16-times more likely than others to be killed by police.

According to her relatives, Lyles anxious that her children were going to be taken away from her.

Finsbury Park suspect's family 'devastated for families of injured'
At least one person was killed and 10 were injured in the latest terror attack to hit the United Kingdom this year. Mohammed Kozbar, chairman of the Finsbury Park Mosque urged people attending prayers to remain vigilant.

According to the City of Seattle's police blotter, the two officers who responded to the 911 call "were confronted by a 30-year-old woman armed with a knife", and fired their guns at her.

According to BuzzFeed News, a woman can be heard saying "You ready?"

It is unclear at this time if the three children present witnessed the shooting, but they are unharmed and being cared for by other family members. Both officers had to fire their service weapons striking the individual.

Police said several children were in Lyles' apartment when she was shot.

Lyles was pregnant with her fifth child and had been experiencing mental health issues, according to her family.

"I don't know anything about a man shooting his wife", Jamieson said. At the end of the video, an officer can be seen partially backing out of the doorway with his arms raised.

In the recording - issued by Seattle police - officers can be heard shouting, "Hey!" Also, why would their first course of action be to shoot her instead of using a less lethal method?

Detectives from the use of force team will investigate the Sunday shooting that Mayor Ed Murray called a tragedy for everyone involved.
