Britain's opposition Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has called on Conservative Prime Minister Theresa May to resign after she presided over cuts to police numbers during her six years as interior minister.

On Saturday night three men drove a van into pedestrians on London Bridge before stabbing people in Borough Market, killing seven people and injuring 48 others - eight minutes after the first 999 call the attackers were shot dead by police.

The Prime Minister, who has faced criticism over police cuts during her time as home secretary, again indicated that she would consider new powers to block access to extremist websites if the internet companies failed to deal with online radicalisation. Later she defended her record saying she had protected the number of counter-terror police officers. Because there have been calls made by a lot of very responsible people on this, who are very anxious that she was at the Home Office for all this time, presided over these cuts in police numbers and now is saying that we have a problem. "We have an election on Thursday where there is an opportunity to vote in a Labour government for the many not the few, one that will invest in police and security services rather than cut them".

The Sun has a story about Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn proposing a garden tax which will "clobber" more than 10 million people, while the Mail carries a double page spread about Mr Corbyn and his suggested sympathy for the IRA and Hamas.

Mr Nuttall called for 20,000 more police officers on United Kingdom streets, and for a review of funding of mosques in Britain, and Mr Bartley said the Prevent counter-radicalisation strategy should be scrapped.

"We have been, in many respects, extremely successful and we have built a very powerful machine but we have now seen these ghastly attacks in London and Manchester over the last several weeks". Cameron was succeeded at 10 Downing Street by May. "We need to step up a gear and look at what we now need to do differently in the face of what does appear to be again a changing threat". Overall, we have made progress on this.

Like Corbyn, Farron called on May to release the foreign funding report, and said there was a real need to have "difficult and embarrassing conversations" with allies such as the Saudis, in order to root out sources funding Islamic extremism.

Pressed on whether this meant penetrating encrypted messaging services, she said the tech industry had done the "right thing" in the past in terms of removing indecent images from their platforms and now ministers wanted the "same response" over extremist material.

Wallace added: "Voters will judge him on his views and actions in the last 30 years, not his desperate promises and evasive soundbites three days out from polling day".

Security chiefs are to present a "wish list" to Theresa May, including a request for electronic tags for high risk suspected terrorists and increased resources for the 0800 anti-terror hotline with speakers of key languages like Pashtu, Punjabi, Arabic, Farsi and Urdu recruited.
