Apple unveils watchOS 4 with a ton of new features

Besides watchOS 4, Apple announced new versions of iOS, tvOS, and macOS. It debuted at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference in June 2017.

Apple has unveiled its new operating system for the Apple Watch at WWDC 2017, called watchOS 4.

There is a new flashlight mode coming with WatchOS 4 as well. All Watches will be eligible to release the operating system for free once it is released in the fall. In the latest version of watchOS, it's diving in head first.

There are a couple new watch faces available in watchOS 4, but the most in-depth one is the Siri-powered watch face. Not to mention an instant reason to upgrade to WatchOS 4. It's likely Apple will follow the same format as the launch of watchOS 3 past year, which saw the release of a beta test phase immediately following the presentation. We will keep you posted.

WatchOS 4: What's new? There's a new music app on the Apple Watch, which will in Apple Music mixes automatically so you don't have to manage it. Supports multiple playlists on the watch. Similarly, swimming-detection has been improved and the app now automatically detects your sets along with then you pause at the edge of the pool. There's also a new kaleidoscope watch face. That basically just means that the watch faces have their own complications and can change depending on what day it is or what time of day it is. To do this, it will now send morning notifications to suggest how you can match the previous day's activity levels, or pull off particular Achievements. Also, the new iPad Pro will feature increased compatibility with Apple's stylus, and the Notes app will now serve to register the user's handwriting.

You will see a sparkly animation when you've filled your rings in Activity.

Native sleep tracking software has so far been missing on the Apple Watch range, despite its popularity among rival devices.

The Dock on watchOS 4 gains a new look with a vertically scrolling interface. watchOS 4 can also automatically start when workouts are started, and music playback controls are integrated with the Workout app.

On the backend, Watch OS 4 gets more support for apps in the background, better responsiveness and core Bluetooth. The company confirmed that Amazon Prime Video is coming to the Apple TV.

Last but not least, there's a new Apple product joining the family: The HomePod.
