Apple finally confirms its vehicle plans

But now, for the first time, CEO Tim Cook has confirmed the company is working on software for use in self-driving cars.

But it's now more clear than ever that Apple is not looking to build its own cars, instead looking at software that will power the future of mobility.

In an interview with Bloomberg TV the CEO said: "We're focusing on autonomous systems".

But, steering clear of discussing exactly what products his company has in mind, he said: "We're not really saying from a product point of view what we will do".

He went on to say: "Autonomy is something that's incredibly exciting for us, but we'll see where it will take us. It's probably one of the most hard A.I. projects".

Cook declined to say whether Apple was looking to build its own auto. In September a year ago, Apple chose to lay off some of its employees from its self-driving auto program, Project Titan. They have been the subject of rumours and speculation for years.

Meanwhile, Cleveland's LeBron James led the Cavs with 41 points, but came up short for the fourth time in seven years. Draymond Green stayed on the court in a game that featured three technicals on one play 3:08 before halftime.

So what is Apple working on?

All are vying to be the first company to bring self-driving cars to the masses. The documents showed that Apple has developed a system "capable of sending electronic commands for steering, accelerating, and decelerating".

Bloomberg journalist Alex Webb tweeted this gif of Apple's self-driving test vehicle in April.

Cook told Bloomberg TV: "There is a major disruption looming there".

The self-driving vehicle industry could mean big business for the likes of Apple and Google, which has been at the forefront of pushing the technology forward. If you've driven an all-electric vehicle, it's actually a marvelous experience. And it's a marvelous experience not to stop at the gas station. "You've got kind of three vectors of change happening generally in the same time frame". "We're focusing on... what we talked about we're focusing on publicly is..." Whereas Apple had initially been building its own vehicle, Mr Mansfield scrapped those plans in favour of building an autonomous driving system.
