"Ugandan soldiers. have sexually exploited at least 13 women and (three) girls since 2015, including at least one rape, and threatened some victims to remain silent", the rights watchdog said in its report. "Two of the women were girls when the exploitation or abuse took place", HRW said.
Fifteen of the women and girls interviewed said they became pregnant and the men responsible left the country without giving any support, the report said.
Since 2011, troops from Uganda have led an African Union (AU) mission in vehicle to eliminate fighters of the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA), a militant group led by Kony that has killed thousands and kidnapped tens of thousands of children over the past three decades. The mission was backed by USA special advisers, who also said recently that they would draw down their involvement.
A 15-year-old girl told HRW that a Ugandan soldier had raped her in the fields near his military base in Obo in January 2016.

All of the alleged attacks took place in the southeastern town of Obo, where the AU mission and USA forces were based.
Several victims said that Ugandan military investigators had interviewed them since 2016, but that there was no follow-up and they had no information about the investigation.
