Steven Van Zandt urges Rutgers grads to stay true to Jersey roots

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) — Musician and actor Steven Van Zandt is urging Rutgers University graduates to stay true to their Garden State roots.

Van Zandt is scheduled to give the keynote address at Rutgers' 251st commencement at High Point Solutions Stadium in Piscataway.

Van Zandt was awarded an honorary Rutgers doctorate at the graduation for his work with Springsteen, his acting role on The Sopranos and activist work fighting apartheid in South Africa.
