According to authorities on Friday, a gunman fatally shot the police chief of an OH town as well as two nursing home employees.

Thorp identified the slain police chief as 36-year-old Steven Eric Disario, who headed the Kirkersville Police Department. The last dispatch from Disario was that he'd spotted the suspect, according to WSYX ABC 6.

When a shot was sacked at the chief, the hostages escaped unharmed.

DiSario was found outside the building by sheriff's office deputies, who pulled him to safety Friday morning, Thorp said.

A shooting at a nursing home in OH left four people dead on Friday morning.

Officials say Hartless killed two female employees-Marlina Medrano, a nurse, and 48-year-old Cindy Krantzat, a nurse's aide-at the nursing home in Licking County.

The shooting closed down the main street of the small village comprised of only about 500 people, as residents flocked to the Kirkersville Police Station to contribute to a makeshift memorial for DiSario.

"It's a real hard day. We will assist in any way we can", Columbus Police said on Twitter.

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine said during a second press conference that the shooter was from Utica and warrants have been obtained for his home and a pair of vehicles.

"Rogers says she heard several other gun shots, then a man 'yelling and screaming'".

The gunman was in a wooded area behind the nursing home when he encountered two passers-by, whom he temporarily took hostage. "These things don't happen here".

"No one is going in, no one is going out", Richards said.

As of May 3, the facility was serving 23 Medicaid patients, according to the Ohio Department of Health.
