Jared Kushner wanted secret communications channel with Russian Federation, new report alleges

27 Mai, 2017, 09:00 | Author: Come Portier

Multiple US officials tell CNN that to this day Russian Federation is trying to spread false information in the US - through elected officials and American intelligence and law enforcement operatives - in order to cloud and confuse ongoing investigations. The former U.S. National Security Advisor, Michael Flynn, and Attorney General Jeff Sessions also omitted meetings - and details of meetings - with Russian officials from their forms.

The Washington Post's national security team just reported that during the transition, Jared Kushner proposed to the Russians that they set up a secret channel of communication using secure Russian facilities. "They try to suborn individuals, and they try to get individuals, including US persons, to try to act on their behalf, either wittingly or unwittingly".

FBI investigators have a simple reason for believing Jared Kushner can help them determine whether President Donald Trump's campaign helped Russia influence the presidential election: Kushner met with senior Russians during the campaign.

The Post reported last week that the Russian Federation investigation had been extended to a top White House official as a "significant person of interest".

He initially failed to declare the meetings while getting a security clearance to serve in the White House.

The president also faced backlash over revelations that he shared "highly classified" information with Kislyak and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during an Oval Office meeting - which took place the day after Trump fired Comey. This report adds to the growing number of questions he might have to face when he gets back. Sergey Kislyak had with his superiors in Moscow about Kushner's proposal, which came up during a meeting in early December - on Dec. 1 or 2 - at Trump Tower, the Post reported.

The Washington Post and NBC each reported late Thursday that Kushner's interactions were of interest to the FBI, but that this did not mean he was a target of the investigation.

Mr Kushner's lawyer has previously said his client would co-operate with any inquiry.

Trump's budget cuts West Coast quake warning system funding
The cut to federal funding for the system is included in Trump's proposed 2017-18 budget, which would gut the system the U.S. The proposed budget also eliminates funding of tsunami monitoring stations and next-generation weather forecasting systems.

Critics accused the White House of launching a cover-up, while Mr Trump has dismissed the investigations as "the single greatest witch hunt of a politician in American history".

In the days after the meeting with Kislyak, Kushner had a separate meeting with Sergey Gorkov, a Russian banker with close ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Flynn, along with former Trump campaign associates Paul Manafort, Roger Stone and Carter Page, are active subjects of the investigation.

It remains unclear if the Federal Bureau of Investigation plans to talk to Kushner.

The Senate and House Intelligence Committees also are investigating, but not with an eye to bringing criminal charges.

The Washington Post reported Wednesday that this Russian intelligence was unreliable.

"The FBI's Russian Federation investigation reached Trump's backyard, and now it's in his house", Democratic National Committee Deputy Communications Director Adrienne Watson said in a statement released Thursday.
