19 Mai, 2017, 15:15 | Author: Lucrece Courtet

For the second successive day, Fernando Alonso finishes fourth on the Indy 500 practice timesheets.

Alonso is making a one-off appearance at the Indy 500 on 28 May instead of racing at the Monaco Grand Prix, where he will be replaced by Britain's Jenson Button, who is coming out of retirement for one race.

"Gil de Ferran, my coach, told me that the four laps in qualifying will be the most terrible laps you've ever done because the vehicle is very on the limit", said Alonso.

"Watching Fernando, it's clear to me that he's one of the best racers that I've ever seen", Motorsport.com quoted De Ferran as saying.
