Le producteur d'électricité nucléaire EDF a annoncé vendredi la cession de sa filiale polonaise EDF Polska pour un montant de 1,4 milliard d'euros, dont 1,1 milliard d'euros pour la part du groupe, à PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna (PGE.WA), le groupe public et principal producteur d'électricité du pays. La cession aura pour effet de réduire l'empreinte carbone du groupe EDF d'environ 23%.

Soucieux de garantir la sécurité énergétique de la Pologne, le gouvernement de Varsovie avait bloqué fin 2016 la scission d'EDF Polska, dont EDF entendait vendre les actifs de cogénération (production de chaleur et d'électricité) au fonds australien IFM Investors, et les actifs de la centrale électrique à charbon de Rybnik au groupe tchèque EPH.
