"For several hours, [authorities] ran up and down the street with their attention focused on the trees and bushes in front of them, occasionally peaking inside to catch a glimpse of the bear", the newspaper reported.

LA VERNE Authorities tranquilized and safely captured an injured bear after it was hit Monday morning near the eastbound 210 Freeway near Foothill Boulevard, according to reports.

A bear was spotted limping along the side of the Foothill (210) Freeway may have been struck by a auto, authorities said Monday. The bear was then taken to the Human Society.

The 200-pound bear was first spotted at about 7:44 a.m.in the lanes of the westbound 210 Freeway at Foothill Boulevard.
