Nouvelles mesures de Facebook contre les "fake news"

Le géant des réseaux sociaux Facebook a annoncé mercredi accroître sa lutte contre les fausses informations ("fake news"), via la surveillance de comportements suspects, comme les messages répétitifs ou massifs, et la fermeture de comptes.

Dans cette mouvance, Facebook a publié un long billet dans lequel il est question de sécurité et d'intégrité, avec de nouvelles mesures visant justement à lutter contre une certaine "démocratisation" de ces pratiques.

Facebook a assuré que ses efforts "ont permis de prendre des mesures significatives" contre les comptes français et qu'il supprime les sites ayant le trafic le plus élevé.

L'objectif est de s'assurer que les internautes sont bien ce qu'ils prétendent être sur le réseau social. Par conséquent, cela lui permet de réduire nettement la propagation de tout contenu trompeur généré par des créateurs de faux-comptes, y compris les spams et la désinformation. Shabnam Shaik, de l'équipe Protect and Care du réseau social, explique sur le blog de l'entreprise que le système de détection a été mis à jour pour identifier les profils bidons en étudiant leur comportement, comme par exemple la publication régulière du même type de contenu, ou encore un pic inattendu d'activité. Tous les comptes suspects sont désormais suspendus et son gestionnaire soumis à des vérifications de son identifiant.
