Pas d'interview de François Fillon dans les colonnes du "Monde".

Depuis le début de la campagne, "Le Monde" a sollicité les principaux prétendants à l'Elysée pour réaliser une interview de politique générale, à laquelle tous ont accepté de participer. Plusieurs fois pris à partie dans les meetings de campagne du candidat et ses conférences de presse, les journalistes ont, à de nombreuses reprises, fait leur une et leurs gros titres autour des affaires de François Fillon, entre emplois fictifs présumés, mise en examen et costumes dispendieux.

"Nous avons refusé parce qu'il nous semblait indispensable d'interroger François Fillon sur la moralisation de la vie publique, sujet essentiel du débat démocratique en cours", se justifie alors le journal. Une attitude regrettable, estime le directeur de la rédaction. "Et parce qu'il nous semble évident, par ailleurs, que les hommes et femmes politiques n'ont pas à décider des questions qui leur sont posées", regrette Le Monde (édito ci-dessous).

Après avoir refusé de répondre à l'intégralité des questions des journalistes de La Dépêche du Midi, et décliné l'invitation de Jean-Jacques Bourdin sur BFMTV, le candidat Les Républicains a de nouveau refusé d'évoquer ses soucis judiciaires dans les pages du Monde. Ici, aucune mention n'est faite de questions "indésirables". La raison? Le candidat de la droite a demandé à ne pas avoir de questions sur les affaires pour lesquelles il a été mis en examen.
